A thoughtful poem by a Year 8 student on the current crisis

What mourn and grieve for those who die unknown?

– Only the countless reports of this rising pandemic.

And yet only those who stay indoors

May live to tell about this apocalyptic tale.

No memories now for them; no prayers nor remembrance

For only those who knew, may mourn to this day.

Their lives taken, with their last sentence

As those who saw, are now full of dismay.

What flowers may be held to remember them all?

Not in the hands of us, yet in their eyes

Shall shine the truth how they never got to say their last goodbyes.

Moments of waiting with anxious minds

Only to be shattered by the closure of the blinds.
