Year 8 students have been writing sonnets in the style of Wilfred Owen

What feeling does the families of passed loved ones feel?

  • Only the suffocated body
  • Only the aching organs

Can understand how the loss of life begins.

No hugs from families for them; no hope nor care

Nor any tear of mourning save the life.

The silent, unaware body of loved ones

Hoping for love from the downhearted home.

What flowers may be laid together to rest?

Not in the hands of family but in with the dead.

These shall shine the way through the goodbyes

The petals shall fall to show they are not gone

But forever here with us –

And we won’t forget they were taken but are never lost.
